Salons

MFT hosts small and large performances. The small salons take place a dozen times a year across the country. The events are held in brownstones, lofts, small bars, and other private venues. Audiences for these events are kept to no more than one hundred listeners

In the style of MTV’s “Unplugged” series the audience is treated to a performance by a eminent jazz artist. The artists are venerable masters as well as young hotshots. MFT funding provides the performing musician with a competitive salary for the evening. Each listener donates a minimum entry fee that covers this cost and a donation towards other MFT grants.

Galas

MFT also produces large events once a year for at least two hundred guests. The event brings together eminent musical talent and Hollywood celebrity and is hosted by MFT’s chair, Jude Law. Each celebrates New Orleans music featuring brass bands, second lines, and other important musical traditions performed by the best performers in jazz today.

Social Media Group

MFT focuses on a number of social media initiatives to grow jazz audiences and support jazz’s creative economy. MFT acts as a digital broker between jazz performers and listeners, hosting a place for the two parties to exchange information. MFT is currently developing a platform to help artists promote their music and listeners get the jazz music the want.

MFT will launch this platform in the next few months. If you’d like to find out more or help with its development, please email us here.

Creative Economics Group

The arts are beneficial to the American economy. Arts generate $166.2 billion in economic activity, support 5.7 million jobs and return nearly $30 billion in revenue to the government each year. Donations to MFT are investments that yield significant financial impact.

MFT researches and presents economic data to help educate donors, policy makers, musicians, and listeners about the creative economy. Stay tuned to our homepage to see news from our Creative Economics Group.
