Happy New Year from MFT

A message from Brent Reidy, our Executive Director

With your help, 2009 was a huge success for helping New Orleans musicians. We're even more excited about 2010.

In 2009, we expanded our salon program in New York and around country. This year we will grow our salon series with hootenannies in San Francisco, Chicago and even London and Munich. We'll also keep our schedules full in New York and New Orleans, bringing much needed jazz to those who crave it.

We're most excited about our ambitious web project. Through this tool, the MFT salon experience will be available to thousands of businesses and homes nationwide. We will help bring jazz to everyone's abodes, enhancing everyday events with live music. We'll keep you in the loop as we get closer to the launch.

See you soon at an upcoming salon!

Keep swingin',

Brent

Way Down Yonder in New Orleans...

Last month I explored the jazz garden of Eden of New Orleans with MFT. On December 10th Marilyn Cutrone opened up her beautiful home to host a salon with Stephen Baldwin that featured the world famous Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Roots of Music, a music education and academic mentoring program, kicked the evening off with an enchanting performance that brought tears to the eyes of many. It was so special to have Roots of Music start the night, since they are the pure essence of everything MFT is about. There was a silent auction with an amazing assortment of donations from the resilient community, including a football signed by the New Orleans Saints and a celebrity poker fantasy trip with superstar Maria Ho and Stephen Baldwin. Over $10,000 was raised to save the jazz music of today for the world of tomorrow. The Dirty Dozen brought the house down as guests danced this truly memorable night away. --Anthony Defeo, Junior Board of MFT
